The Donbass Arena is based in Donetsk, Ukraine, and it will be one of the main stadiums during Euro 2012. It is due to host the three Group D matches that don't involve host nation Ukraine, as well as a quarter-final and a semi-final during the tournament. It boasts a 51,504 all-seater capacity and fans from around Europe are sure to flock to the ground to see some of the most high profile matches during the European Championships
The stadium will be well known to a lot of European football fans already as it is the home of Ukrainian club side Shakhtar Donetsk, who have plied their trade in the Champions League in recent seasons. It is one of the toughest venues for European teams to visit because such a fantastic atmosphere is created by the home support.
The atmosphere during matches at Euro 2012 promises to be electric and it helps that the stadium is based in the centre of the city. Meanwhile the fact that the arena is near the main nightlife area of the city will no doubt ensure that football fans and tourists alike will make this one of the main cities to visit during the tournament.
The stadium itself was designed by the same company that designed the City of Manchester Stadium and it is instantly recognisable for its soaring roof effect. It is one of the more picturesque stadiums around, particularly at night, and it promises to be one of the highlights for visiting fans at Euro 2012.
