Euro 2012 - Quarter Final
Sunday 24th June - 7.45pm BST - BBC1
Olympic Stadium, Kiev UKR
England and Italy will do battle at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev on Sunday night in the final Euro 2012 quarter final. Roy Hodgson's side defied the odds by topping Group D and avoid the well fancied Spanish in the quarter finals, whilst Italy were runners up behind Spain in Group C.
England drew their first game with France 1-1 before going on to beat Sweden in their second match 3-2 despite being 2-1 down during the second half. A draw would have been enough to qualify for the quarter finals behind the French in Group D but a Wayne Rooney goal was enough to beat the Ukraine in their final group match.
Italy are also unbeaten following their Group C campaign where they finished runners up behind Spain. A good 1-1 draw with the Spanish got their campaign off to a start but Mario Balotelli and co were unimpressive when drawing 1-1 against Croatia in their second match. A comprehensive 2-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland was enough for the Italians to qualify and set up this match with England.
The betting is very tight between the two, but a wave of patriotic punting could force England into favourtism come kick off time.
