The Municipal Stadium in Poznan, Poland, hosts several matches during the group stages ofEuro 2012and is not to be confused with the Municipal Stadium in Wroclaw. The venue hosts three Group matches during the tournament and is one of the more established venues at the 2012 Championships.
The stadium was opened in 1980 and is the home ground of Polish football teams Lech Poznan and Warta Poznan. It was refurbished in 2010 especially for the European Championships and now boasts a capacity of 41,609.
One of the main points of interest during the tournament might well be how the pitch copes as the grass has struggled to grow properly in recent years due to the stadium's high, steep stands, with the turf now exchanged several times a year to help make it a better playing surface.
The city of Poznan itself is one of the most historical places to visit in Poland as it is one of the oldest cities in the country. It is likely to attract plenty of visitors throughout Euro 2012 as it was a candidate city for the European Capital of Culture in 2016. The city's stadium will host three Group C matches during Euro 2012.
