Euro 2012 - Quarter Final
Saturday 23rd June - 7.45pm BST - ITV1
Donbass Arena, Donetsk UKR
European and World champions Spain take on France in the third Euro2012 quarter final on Saturday night in Donetsk. The Spanish finished top of Group C whilst France slipped up to finish second place in Group D behind England.
Spain are unbeaten in the competition following a draw against Italy in their opening match, followed by 4-0 and 1-0 wins over Ireland and Croatia respectively. The Spaniards were impressive against Ireland but both Italy and Croatia posed the current European Champions enough problems to give the French side some hope here.
Laurent Blanc will have to lift his French team who were surprisingly beaten by Sweden in their final Group D match. An opening 1-1 draw with England was followed up by a 2-0 win over Ukraine. Going into the final round of matches at the top of the group, the bookmakers made France long odds on favourites to beat Sweden who couldn't qualify and top the group ahead of England. Alas for Blanc and co that was not the case losing 2-0 to the Swedes which leaves them facing Spain.
Spain are big favourites with the bookmakers to progress to the semi-finals.
