Euro 2012 - Group D
Monday June 11th - 7.45pm BST - BBC1
Olympic Stadium, Kiev UKR
Ukraine and Sweden open their respective Euro2012 campaigns with a match against one another at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev on Monday 11th June. Both are big outsiders in the betting to win this year's European Championships but tournament co-hosts Ukraine could have the extra advantage, or added pressure, of playing in front of their vociferous home fans.
Ukraine qualified for Euro 2012 automatically by virtue of being one of the tournament's co-hosts alongside Poland. It is their first appearance at a European Championship and their first outing at a major finals since they reached the quarter-finals of the 2006 World Cup.
They come up against a Sweden side who qualified by being the best second placed team in qualifying. They finished runners up to the hugely impressive Netherlands and were the only team to beat Holland as they won the final group match 2-1.
